Jasmine and Sammi arrived at
Neway in Mongkok Centre in the late morning of 22nd December to put up
decorations they had prepared nights before. Some fans came early to help.
Samm also arrived quite early to make sure the setting of the room is fit.
There was a huge "Cheung Ho Yee" (in Chinese) banner on the wall,
surrounded by balloons and cardboard filled with Maggie's photos. One says,
"Supporting U Forever" and the other one has "MCIFC" on
it.
Although the invitation says
the party begins at 2 p.m., but the night before, Jasmine has phoned
everyone and moved it to 3 p.m. Almost everyone arrived earlier than 3 p.m.
(who could blame you guys!).
Dear
Maggie arrived at 3:15 p.m. with Joe Ma (who was helping her fetching the
presents), carrying a
bunch of baskets filled with presents for fans. Fans screamed as Maggie came in.
Maggie was so casual it surprised many people. She was wearing a red-white
puma, she looked like our very own Santa Clause, with her long extension
tied up. Joe was, as you can see in the photo here, casually wearing a
striped zip-up shirt with blue jeans--just like his character in Let's
Face It. Cameras were flashing as
if Maggie and Joe just came out from a limo and getting on a red carpet
walk.
Maggie asked the fans to
introduce themselves, one by one. There were over 40 fans attending! More
than the number who RSVP'd! They came
from
Australia, United Kingdoms, United States, New Zealand, Thailand,
Mainland China, Macao, Hong Kong, etc. it was truly an event of an
international fan club gathering. Besides the fans, Jasmine brought along
her very own family (mom, dad, sister) to help out (cool!). Jasmine's dad
was filming the event as her mom and sister accompanies her with variety of
things (thank you all!).
And the couples from Wild Castaway also
came, including Tai Tse Tung &
Carmen, Ah Man & Wah Jai, Ah Hiu & Suki. James & Yoki (the
winning couple in the show) could not
make it because they were on their honeymoon. Apparently, those couples have
become such great friends with Maggie
and Joe they kept in touch since the show ended. One of the couple told
Jasmine, "Actually, I think we kept in touch too much."
Unfortunately, the fans eventually learned that Kevin Cheng and Moses Chan
would not be able to make it to the gathering because they were stuck
filming their scenes in Better Halves. Reporters arrived with their
notepads and professional cameras, some of the fans now realized, "Uh
oh..." but these reporters are good friends with Maggie and Samm, they
weren't the tabloid puppies that fans should worry about.
Once all the guests have
arrived and seated and the food (mingling food) has been set
out, Jasmine got up to introduce MCIFC--five years and 700+ members later,
dream came true for MCIFC and fans. We finally can sit down with Maggie for
a feast and a celebration. Then it was Maggie's turn to speak.
[Maggie's speech goes

She cried as she thanked fans
for their support over the past years, through the rough and smooth times,
regardless. Everyone at the gathering was very touched by every single one
of her words. Afterward, Maggie distributed gifts to every single one of the
attendees, there must be more than 40! Everyone received a gift basket from
The Body Shop along with a Hollywood DVD and another special present (which
each person gets a different kind of present). Fans were both touched and
surprised because...well, how many actress give her fans Christmas present?
It's not what are in the presents, but it was her thoughtful gestures that
touched many of the fans.
At this time, Steven Ma
arrived--once again surprised many of the fans who did not know about the
special guests. Steven was wearing black trousers with black top and black
leather jacket, he was also wearing a specs.
The Master of Ceremonies was
Ah Tung, or formerly known as Tai Tse Tung from Wild Castaway. He is
a police officer by day, a great friend of Maggie and Joe by night, and at
the gathering, he was one heck of an M.C. Ah Tung, as you guys have already
seen in Wild Castaway is a outspoken and funny guy.
Ah Tung came up with some
great games. One of which is to make each member come up and sing a song for
Maggie. Elsa got lots of compliment. Jasmine duet with her mom. Many
interesting talents we found at the gathering. Maggie and Joe sang the theme
song of Plain Love II. Then she duet with Steven Ma, I think it was
"Nui Yan" something, the song sang by Andy Hui and Anita Mui.
In betweens the performances,
Maggie would chat a little bit with each fan. Then Jasmine present the
crystal ball award, another surprise for all the fans and Maggie because
this was kept within the committee. Maggie accepted her award with tears
filling up her eyes. In her own words:
[Maggie's speech goes
here...coming soon]
Joe and Steven also got up to
say nice things about Maggie, made her cried even more.

The fans played many games
with Maggie, the winner get to sing a song with Maggie and there was also a
lucky draw, the special prize being two tickets to Amei Cheung's concert on
28th December. The party ends around 6 p.m., Maggie was worried her fans
getting late for the "Winter Family" gathering (because it was
Dung Chi--the shortest day-time of the year). She quickly signed photos and
posters for fans.
